Real Application Cluster (RAC) enables multiple independent servers that are linked by an interconnect to share access to an Oracle database. Data Guard addresses site failures and data protection through transitionally consistent primary and secondary standby databases that do not share disks, enabling recovery from site disasters and data corruption and forms part of the disaster recovery (DR) mechanism.
